BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Reuters) – Most Bruneians want husbands who cheat on their wives to be whipped, according to a recent survey in the Muslim-majority country.
The survey, conducted by website brudirect (www.brudirect.com), found 76 percent of 272 respondents said men should be whipped for having affairs while only 55 percent said unfaithful wives should receive the same punishment.
"The result of the survey is an indication of the pent-up feelings that women harbor against irresponsible men," an unnamed social worker from Brunei was quoted as saying on the website.
The oil-rich state of Brunei, located on Borneo Island, has a population of almost 400,000 of which 66 percent are Muslim.

aha...thats funny. i say men should be beat brutaly so they realize what they have done.
ReplyDeletejuuuuust kidding.
im not that mean. :]
I dont believe that they should be whipped because i dont believe that it would do anything. And if they are whipped then women who cheat on there husbands should be whipped to because its only fair
ReplyDeleteof course they should be whipped for cheating! but if guys do then i guess girls should be whipped also if they cheat. its only equal. at least both will then understand to never cheat again =]
ReplyDeleteThat might put priorities in order and return morals to those many who have lost their sense of right and wrong when it comes to fadelity. However I do agree women should recieve the same as well.
ReplyDeleteI don't think anybody should be punished for cheating by being beaten. It should be strictly between the couple. The couple should decide their punishment. It is only fair.
ReplyDeleteno, it's not worth it because nothing you do to a cheating husband will erase what he did.
ReplyDeleteAlright women! then lets do this, castrate everyone who cheats? if should be done to both.. its only fair right?
ReplyDeletehah! kidding..kidding, they are actually doing this to child abusers in switzerland just wrote into law a while back..
alright on my serious side..They cheated? let them die slowly of AIDS or whatever disease they caught, same thing for women. You know what we are missing the muslim opinion seeing as that island is mainly muslim. So let's hear it from a different point of view!
ummm, is it just me, or have only women responded to this one? Guys? Too uncomfortable to think about?
ReplyDeleteFor the muslim point of view, probably the Brunei law actually already is that point of view. Does that type of thing work? Should the whipping be public? Would that work?
i aggry with that ensly chick. equalitty yup. chickz n dudez should be equal. but man do they gotta be whipped u cant just make eat onions or something.....or gooolosh blah the name haha ...goolosh..........nah itz actually pretty ok.. how bout no t.v. for a week?
ReplyDeleteI believe that it should be equal. But definitely have something happen so that the next time they think about cheating they think twice.
ReplyDeleteNope i dont believe so that is really harsh punishment. honestly some of these countrys are crazy. i was sitting in an insurance office yesterday and they have a list of all the different punishments from a few of the countrys. In Malaka...i believe if you get a DUI you get thrown in jail and so does your spouse. Even if they werent in the carr. Thats Crazy im Thankful i live here because it would be hard with all the other countrys rules.
ReplyDeletethats dumb.....
ReplyDeleteWell, back in the day this would have probably been proper and appropriate. Now in the year 2009 i believe it would be a little ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWhats the golden rule again. So it should go both way.
